NEW IN 2005
20th December 2005
2005 is coming to a close and Game Ops has had a fantastic year. All that remains is to thank our clients and contractors and to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
See you all in 2006!
6th December 2005
Despite Christmas being just around the corner, the demand for contractors and experienced people has increased dramatically over the last couple of weeks.
‘Stocking up’ for next year is prevalent in the minds of many developers and publishers and Game Ops, like Santa, will try and fulfill their ‘wish-lists’.
In order to achieve this, we would like to encourage anyone who feels that 2006 could be the year for change and would welcome the opportunities and challenges that Game Ops and freelancing has to offer.
Why not give us a call on 01382 731909 or send an email
16th November 2005
Game Ops believes that the key to successful contracting is flexibility. Whilst we will always try to match a contractor’s individual preferences - working from home or within a radius of their home base or in a specific area - we have to be realistic and say that this is not always possible. Despite our best efforts, it is often those contractors who are prepared to be flexible that are the most successful in securing contracts.
Although Game Ops recognizes that the industry’s attitude is changing to the models we promote, we have a little way to go yet to find an ideal for all. This said, we have and will continue to prove that contractors, whether in-sourced or outsourced, have a huge role to play in the success of many projects.

As you can see on both the contract and permanent job boards this week, there has been a huge increase in the number of opportunities for Programmers. With many of our guys currently working on projects, we are looking for experienced industry professionals who would like to register with Game Ops and benefit from an alternative approach to finding contract or permanent work.
We believe the personal service offered by Game Ops ensures that the needs of both contractor and client are met. For temporary contracts, ongoing communication and support from start to finish is paramount to the success of each.

There are yet more opportunities available this week and our register continues to grow. Thanks to all of you who recommend us and please continue to do so.
We are often asked the question as to what freelancing is really like, so rather than answering this ourselves, we felt you may like to hear from a couple of our contractors who have worked with Game Ops for a while.
"Game Ops are perfect for the longer term contracts that freelancers often find difficult to land. The feedback they provide on the job and the professional service makes freelancing a pleasure again. Highly recommended!"
Robin Butler - Freelance Animator
“12 months ago I was ready to leave the games industry. Disillusioned, with Companies all around me hitting the wall, I couldn’t see a future. I accepted a short term contract with Game Ops to give me some time to think, but it turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. I was able to concentrate on my work without the hassles of company politics and problems and so, I have been contracting ever since. The variety of work is great and I have renewed enthusiasm for the industry. Unlike some agencies, Game Ops offer support and assistance throughout the contract and whether you are working in-house or from home, they are always there to offer friendly advice and encouragement. Contracting with Game Ops was the best decision I ever made.”
Carleen Houbart – Freelance Artist
If you think freelancing is for you and want to change to a more flexible way of working, then give us a call or send us an email.

23rd August 2005
This week has seen a huge increase in the number of ‘in-sourcing’ opportunities, as developers and publishers recognise the benefit of this unique strategy which allows them increased flexibility by introducing the necessary skills as and when the project demands. Having access to our highly experienced and skilled bank of professionals through Game Ops ensures that these needs are met, when required, on site.
Consequently, we have several contracts that we urgently need to fill across the UK and Europe, so if you are thinking of a change or know someone who is, then give us a call on 01382 731909 or email
14th August 2005
Our recent visit to EIEF gave us the opportunity to meet with a number of clients and contractors. Using this as a barometer for the industry, it appears that there is a continued growth in the acceptance of both outsourcing and freelancers as essential strategies for ‘next gen’ development.
We at Game Ops believe that ‘in-sourcing’ provides an even stronger solution for Developers by combining the advantages of both outsourcing and freelancers to provide either individuals or teams with specific skills to work in-house as and when required. This gives the development company access to a skilled and flexible workforce, but allows them to manage the process more closely.
