21st December 2003

There has been a decline in the number of new positions available this week, as may be expected so close to Christmas. We have however, received a lot of interest from companies looking to outsource artwork for the start of the New Year. Henceforth, we will be looking for freelance programmers come the New Year and are actively seeking experienced Level Designers, Maya Artists and Animators for immediate positions.

14th December 2003

This past week has seen further enquiries regarding freelance contractors. At this time we are in the process of pricing various freelance contracts for the start of next year.

However, we are still seeking Level Designers, Maya Artists and Animators for immediate positions. If you know anyone that is looking, please let them know about the services that we provide.

This week sees a dramatic increase in enquiries from companies in and around Europe for freelancers We will be converting this interest into confirmed positions over the next few weeks. In addition to this, we have some freelance contracts extended by several months.

Also this week we have seen a large increase in the number of permanent positions, for positions in both UK and across Europe.

We are current seeking the following skills for existing positions;
- Level Designers
- Maya Animators
- Lead Programmers

Another week has passed and we have seen a further increase in the number of enquiries about freelance positions. As a result, we are currently seeking artists and MAYA trained animators for positions in the UK as well as across Europe. If you know of anyone who is looking for freelance work, then please ask them to contact us.

We have also seen a slight increase for permanent positions and again are seeking candidates to fill these positions.

This week sees a reduction in the number of positions available due to the successful placement of candidates. We have also seen an increase in the number of enquiries regarding freelance work and hope to convert these enquiries into firm positions in the coming weeks.

We do not advertise people or positions but rely on personal recommendations, this helps to ensure the quality and reliability for both candidates and clients.

The past week has seen a number of contractors placed in positions in Europe with a significant number of people attending interviews over the coming week.

Game Ops does not place adverts for vacancies, as we provide a personal service matching your CV to any suitable positions. We provide an approachable and friendly service, with the belief that communication is the key to well founded relationships and do not send any CVs to clients without checking that you are comfortable with the company first. As a result we achieve a higher than average proportion of CVs to interviews and interviews to offers.

Despite another 2 developers closing their doors this week Game Ops has provided a boost for people looking for both permanent and freelance opportunities. Much hard work has resulted in a massive jump in the number of vacancies now being handled by Game Ops, some on an exclusive basis. We are delighted to announce that this week we successfully placed a record number of contractors in both permanent and freelance positions

The number of vacancies has increased again this week and we are looking for experienced Game Designers and Level Designers ASAP for both permanent and temporary assignments. Peter McDowall has now joined Game Ops as Business Development Manager. Peter was formerly Licensing Manager at Empire Interactive. Peter will be based in our Glasgow office, new contact details have been added to the Contacts page.

Game Ops register of contractors continues to grow with the total registrations now exceeding 100 people. Those wishing to register should submit their CV and showreel (where applicable) on CD.

In the past 2 weeks we have also seen a 25% increase in the number of current vacancies which is an indication of the shift in attitude by development studios faced with mounting financial pressures. With 55 vacancies for both permanent and freelance developers Game Ops offers the best and most flexible options for both short-term and permanent employment.

Permanent Staff

With immediate effect, and due to demand from both new and existing clients, we are now placing candidates in permanent positions. Anyone already registered has already been contacted with regard to this, therefore anyone not yet registered with Game Ops should contact us by email ASAP.

Following a very busy ECTS, we have received numerous new enquiries for both freelance and permanent staff.

As a result of this we will be making key new appointments within the company which will allow us to keep the ever increasing number of contractors up to date with any relevant opportunities.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Steph Woods as Operations Director and our new Business Development Manager will be introduced in the near future.

After a tremendous response from the companies who met with us at ECTS, we are now in the process of further exploring the potential time and cost savings offered by the revolutionary technology developed by Tidex Systems Ltd, for whom Game Ops are the exclusive UK agent.

We expect to have exciting news regarding Game Ops addition to the preferred supplier lists for 2 major development studios.

This has already resulted in the addition of 15 new permanent positions to our list of vacancies and more are expected in the next few weeks.

New projects just received for a game designer, particularly with mobile or GBA experience, and 2 x programmers for technology development on mobile platforms.

We have current vacancies for experienced PSX and PS2 programmers on some very exciting projects. We also have vacancies for testers and designers with game development experience. We are also looking for talented artists from the TV and Film industries who would like to work on some of the top game titles around.

Game Ops will be attending the Edinburgh International Game Festival and the Edinburgh TV Festival both of which will take place in August. Game Ops details will be distributed as part of the Scottish Enterprise information pack and we will be putting together some examples from showreels on a compilation CD being distributed by Tayscreen as part of their remit to attract TV and Film production to the area. This is an ideal opportunity for Game Ops contractors to show their skills in front of some of the best TV and Film producers in the country.
